Donna-Marie and her husband, Rider Cheyne, live in Williams Lake, British
Columbia, Canada, on 29 beautiful acres called "Hilldrop". Donna-Marie Cyr,
CMA, graduated as a Certified Management Accountant in 1985 and now works
at Ron Ridley Rentals. Donna-Marie has many hobbies
and interests, as seen below.
Rider was born in Norfolk, England and immigrated to Canada in 1971. His
interests, when he’s not involved with fence building (for Donna-Marie’s
animals), include Black Powder Shooting, history, photography, guitars, and
steam trains. He had the good fortune to remember the end of steam in England.
In 1999 along with two other people he constructed a 7ft x 9ft diorama of the
Williams Lake station and roundhouse as it appeared in the steam era. This
display was for the Museum of The Cariboo Chilcotin to celebrate the arrival of
the Pacific Great Eastern Railway in Williams Lake in 1919. Rider retired from
the Forest Industry in 2003 and now works as a consultant for integrated land
management to achieve balance between resource use and environment.
For Sale: Guage 1 model Steam Locomotive.
In her spare time Donna-Marie is actively involved in a variety of activities. She
travels around the province, sometimes the country, and occasionally the world
showing and promoting her Belgian Tervuren and Papillons. Donna-Marie has
been breeding Belgians since 1988 and Papillons since 1992. She believes in
breeding for quality, not quantity, and all animals leaving for their new families
leave with a full guarantee.
Donna-Marie fell in love with the Tennessee Walking Horse because of their
smooth gaits and quiet dispositions. Her main enjoyment is the peaceful
tranquility of trail riding. Ask her about some of those "fquarway" trails.
Though her horses and dogs take a large part of her time, Donna-Marie is actively
involved with her local dog club. The Cariboo Kennel Club is where
Donna-Marie spends time training and socializing both her adult dogs and her
puppies (and just hanging out with the "gang"). Puppies are temperament tested
by members of the Cariboo Kennel Club to help facilitate the placement of the
right dog to the right owner.
Donna-Marie is actively involved as a volunteer with Williams Lake Real Justice,
an alternative justice program aimed at reaching a remedy for harm done through
consensus of victim, offender and their supporters.
